why is alienware competing with dell?

July 29, 2006

The top image is a capture from this page on boutique computer builder Alienware‘s website, which discusses the features of the company’s new “P2” chassis design. The “competitor” referred to in the diagram can only be computer giant Dell, whose new XPS 700 case design is pictured immediately below; notice that it fits the silhouette exactly. You may recall, however, that Alienware is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Dell, making the whole competition issue rather puzzling.  It’s probably just a result of an overzealous marketing department, but does anyone have any other ideas about what’s going on here?

Because people are dumb, I guess :/

This is simply a coincidence. Both Alienware and Dell strives for the best, and there is no contradiction whatsoever.

I Think Its just because Alienware are trying to make a point of the fact that their computers are the coolest looking computers around and dells are just a black box
