I have a mishmash of film news today. First, excellent trailers for Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige and Michel Gondry’s The Science of Sleep are now available in various QuickTime formats, including HD. Both are interesting enough to warrant a visit to the theatre, and Sleep looks positively unhinged (though I would expect nothing less from M. Gondry).
Second, I’ll be seeing Richard Linklater’s A Scanner Darkly sometime this week–possibly Thursday–with a review to follow. After watching the first 24 minutes (available via IGN), I’m even more anxious to see how trippy and bizarre this Philip K. Dick adaptation can get. My optimism is especially high considering my affinity for two of Mr. Linklater’s other films, Before Sunset and Waking Life (not to mention that he hails from Houston, my hometown).
This next weekend is a busy one as well, with M. Night Shymalan’s Lady In The Water, the Spielberg/Zemeckis animated feature Monster House, and the Uma Thurman vehicle My Super Ex-Girlfriend being the most notable releases. Look for a review of Lady and perhaps Monster, if I can manage it.
